Course Content/Topics Covered
NEBOSH General Certificate is equivalent to a NVQ Level 3 / A-Level qualification. The course is split into two units which are assessed individually. The course contents includes:

Target Group
Designed for managers, supervisors and employees who have health and safety responsibilities, the General Certificate will equip you with everything you need to know about how to manage workplace risks effectively.
Assessment and Certification
On the completion of the course, delegates will have developed their skills to:

• Justify improvements of health and safety using moral, financial and legal arguments
• Advise on the main duties for health and safety in the workplace
• Help your organisation manage contractors
• Work within a health and safety management system, recognising what effective general policy, organisation and arrangements should look like
• Positively influence health and safety culture and behaviour to improve performance in your organisation
• Do a general risk assessment in your workplace – profiling and prioritising risks, inspecting the workplace, recognising a range of common hazards, evaluating risks (taking account for current controls, recommending further control measures and planning actions
• Recognise workplace changes that have significant health and safety impacts and effective ways to minimise those impacts
• Develop basic safe systems of work (including taking account of typical emergencies) and knowing when to use permit-to-work systems for special risks
• Take part in incident investigations
• Help your employer to check their management system effectiveness – through monitoring, audits and reviews

Assessment

The NEBOSH General Certificate is split into two units which are assessed individually:

• NG1: An open book digital examination to assess what you know. This is scenario based and will include a closing interview in which you will be asked questions about your submission. Learners will have 24 hours to assess, complete and submit their paper starting from 11am (UK time) on the exam date.

• NG2: A practical risk assessment to assess what you can you. Learners will complete a risk assessment and develop an action plan for their workplace – this is immediately useful and valuable.

Assessment Results

Assessment results for both units should be received within 50 working days from the date of the examination or submission of the written risk assessment. The specific date is written on your examination entry confirmation.

In the event you do not pass either assessment, Alliance Learning will contact you to discuss next steps. Re-sits of either unit is at your own cost, but we can provide additional revision days and tutor support is available. In addition, provide you with continued access to our VLE – Moodle page.

Re-assessment fee: £89.00 per unit
Method of Delivery: The training is made up of classroom-based learning.
