What does a Level 2 Lean manufacturing operative Apprentice do
A Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprentice works in a production environment where they learn to operate machinery, follow standard operating procedures, and carry out quality checks to ensure products meet required standards. Their role involves keeping the workplace safe and organised, supporting the flow of production by preparing work areas and maintaining materials, and reporting any issues or defects. Throughout the apprenticeship, they apply lean manufacturing techniques such as 5S and continuous improvement to help reduce waste and improve efficiency. This develops key skills in teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and safe machine operation.
What are the entry requirements?
Candidates must be aged 16 or over and should have:
- Practical abilities and the desire to work with your hands
- High motivation and are keen to work in the engineering/manufacturing environment
- The ability to follow instructions and diagrams
- The ability to work accurately and a good eye for detail
- Good communication and problem solving abilities
- Good numeracy and literacy abilities to work with data
- The ability to work on your own initiative, but also be a good team worker
What is the duration of the course?
The Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship takes approximately 12-18 months to complete.
How can I progress in Engineering?
After completing the Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship, you could progress onto Higher Apprenticeship at Level 3 in Engineering or manufacturing.
