Course Overview (Benefits) This course empowers MHFA and MHFA Champions to refresh their skills, the same way physical first aiders do, it’s a great way to demonstrate an organisations commitment to treating mental health and physical health equally. Investing in the course will give delegates the confidence that Mental Health First Aiders and MHFA Champions are performing their role safely and effectively. The half-day course supports those who have already completed either the MHFA course or MHFA Champions by: • Renewing their skills • Updating their knowledge of mental health supports • Giving them the chance to practice applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan
Course Requirements Due to some of the sensitive subjects of the course, delegates should be aware that some people can find certain parts of the course difficult, although our instructors help everyone to feel safe and comfortable.

Course Content/Topics Covered This course ensures that delegates refresh their skills and knowledge with topics that teach skills that can be transferred to a real life situation, including: • Spot the early signs of a possible mental health issue • Feel confident in how to offer and provide initial help to a person experiencing a mental health issue • Preserve life where a person may be at risk of harm to themselves or others • Help to stop mental health from getting worse and to give hope to someone who needs guidance • Promote recovery of good mental health • Guide someone towards appropriate treatment and other sources of help • Understand the stigma that exists around mental health • Provide help on a first aid basis

Target Group This course is for those who have previously completed a MHFA course and needs their skills and knowledge refreshing.
Assessment and Certification Delegates are assessed throughout the entire course. Upon completion, delegates will receive a digital certificate of attendance issued by Mental Health First Aid (England).
Method of Delivery: This course is made up of classroom based learning.
