Mobile Access Platforms

Our IPAF Operator Training covers Static Boom (1B), Scissor Lift (3A), and Mobile Boom (3B) categories, with options to train on one, two, or all three machine types. This one-day course equips operatives with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate mobile powered access equipment, covering current legislation, safe working practices, equipment inspections, hazard awareness, and theory and practical assessments. Successful delegates will gain the confidence and competence needed to reduce risks and work safely at height.

MEWP Harness Awareness & User

The IPAF MEWP Harness Awareness & User course provides essential knowledge and practical skills for anyone using a harness and lanyard in a Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP). This half-day course covers the correct selection, inspection, fitting, adjustment, use, maintenance, and storage of harness equipment, helping delegates understand how to work safely at height and reduce the risk of falls. Combining theory and practical assessment, it is ideal for MEWP operators and is a prerequisite for the IPAF Harness Inspector training course.

MEWP Inspector Training

The IPAF MEWP Harness Inspector course provides the knowledge and practical skills required to carry out statutory inspections of harnesses, lanyards, and associated personal fall protection equipment (PFPE) used in Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs). This one-day course covers inspection requirements, identifying damage and wear, equipment lifespan, record keeping, and completing inspection documentation. Ideal for those responsible for conducting formal inspections on behalf of an organisation, the course includes both theory and practical assessments and requires prior completion of the IPAF Harness Awareness & User course.

MEWPs for Managers eLearning

The IPAF MEWPs for Managers eLearning course is a flexible online programme designed for those responsible for planning, supervising, and managing MEWP use rather than operating equipment. It covers key areas including risk assessment, site preparation, machine selection, regulations, safe operating procedures, emergency planning, and the correct use of fall protection equipment. Delivered in convenient modules, this 4–6 hour course enables managers to build essential knowledge of safe MEWP operations, legal responsibilities, and best practice to ensure safe and effective use on site.

Demonstrator

The IPAF Demonstrator course trains candidates to safely familiarise operators with Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), including pre-operational checks, safe operating procedures, equipment limitations, and operator responsibilities. Delivered over one day, the course combines theory and practical demonstration training, covering MEWP categories, PPE and harness use, handovers, and assessment. Candidates must already hold a valid IPAF Operator PAL card for the relevant category and will be assessed on their ability to competently demonstrate safe use and deliver effective machine familiarisation.

Spotter eLearning

The IPAF Spotter course is designed to train individuals to safely assist MEWP operations by acting as a dedicated observer on site. It provides the knowledge and awareness needed to help prevent collisions and hazards when working at height, supporting safe manoeuvring of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) in complex or high-risk environments. The course covers key responsibilities such as hazard identification, effective communication with operators, safe positioning, and understanding site risks. Ideal for those supporting MEWP operations, this short course helps improve overall site safety and reduce the risk of incidents.
