Course Overview (Benefits) This course enables delegates of all levels to take charge if an illness or injury occurs and covers the basic skills required. With training taking place at our site in Horwich, the aim of this course is to: • Comply with Legislation underlined by HSE and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 • Improve safety culture and staff morale • Reduce risk of accidents and incidents • Reduce risk of claims and prosecutions • Improve staff retention
Course Requirements It is recommended that delegates wear suitable clothing, as they are required to complete a practical demonstration.

Course Content/Topics Covered This course ensures that you comply with legislation and covers topics that teach skills that can be transferred to a real-life situation, including: • Aims of First Aid • Dealing with an emergency • Priorities of Treatment • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation on an adult (including the use of an Automated External Defibrillator) • Recognition and treatment of regurgitation. Use of face shields • Choking - Adult • Unconscious Patient: Including recovery position and dealing with a patient who is in seizure (fitting) • Bleeding / Shock - Blood loss theory, internal bleeding, recognition and treatment of shock • Wounds & Bleeding - Cross infection / Treatment of bleeding and minor injuries • Burns & Scalds • Recording Incidents and First Aid Actions

Target Group The course is suitable for individuals at all levels.
Assessment and Certification Delegates will be assessed by continuous observation by the trainer alongside written assessments. Upon completion of this course, delegates will receive an Emergency First Aid certificate, valid for 3 years.
Method of Delivery: The training is made up of classroom-based learning and practical demonstrations.
