Course Overview (Benefits) This course is for First Aiders to re-qualify prior to their certificate expiring. The aim of this course: This course is for First Aiders to renew their certification before their current certificate expires. With training taking place at our site in Horwich, the aim of this course is to: • Comply with Legislation underlined by HSE and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 • Improve safety culture and staff morale • Reduce risk of accidents and incidents • Reduce risk of claims and prosecutions • Improve staff retention
Course Requirements It is recommended that delegates wear suitable clothing, as they are required to complete a practical demonstration. All delegates on the Requalification Course must bring their current certificate with them to prove their eligibility for the course. Attendees have 28 days from expiry date to attend the course, those who are over 28 days must be re-booked onto the next 3-day course.

Course Content/Topics Covered This training covers a wide range of topics including: • Priorities of first aid • Introduction to the body • Resuscitation (includes the use of an Automated External Defibrillator) • Shock • Heart conditions • Burns & scalds • Wounds & bleeding • Eye injuries • Sudden illness • Unconsciousness • Fractures • Poisons • Epilepsy • Effects of heat & cold • Record keeping • First aid boxes • Delegation in emergencies • Communication skills • Course review and evaluation
Course Duration (days): 1.0
Target Group This course is for certified First Aiders approaching the end of the 3 year certificate.
Assessment and Certification Delegates will be assessed by continuous observation by the trainer alongside written assessments. Upon completion of this course, delegates will receive a First Aid certificate, valid for 3 years.
Method of Delivery: The training is made up of classroom-based learning and practical demonstrations.
