Apprentice Machining Engineer | Jost UK

We are now looking to recruit 2x Apprentice Machinist Engineers to join our growing Global company. Jost is a world leader in the manufacturing of systems, modules and components for commercial vehicles. We have been leading the market with product developments ever since 1916 when the company’s founder Maurice Edwards developed the first ever hoist to be powered by a truck engine. Based on a long-standing tradition of cutting-edge innovation and with over 90 years of industry expertise behind them, our products remain at the forefront of the tipping market, increasing payloads, reducing tipping times and providing “fit and forget” solutions. Located in the UK in the north-west town of Bolton since its very beginnings, we considers its local roots very important.

- As an Apprentice Engineer you will be reporting into the Production Supervisor, you will assist in providing an effective, proactive production service.

- Through your apprenticeship you will gain the skills and knowledge to operate mill, lathe, drill, automatics, hone and lap, numerical control equipment and burr efficiently and safely, to become a fully skilled Machining Engineer.

- You will read blueprints, work from layouts and dimensions on drawings to perform assigned tasks, and follow your supervisor’s instructions to ensure quality is maintained.

- Undertake a development programme through an apprenticeship. Actively participate in your own development agreed with your line manager and assessor from the training provider. You will also be provide with a mentor from the senior leadership team and rotated through each of our departments to get a full understanding of the business.

You will complete 12 months at Alliance learning before starting with us in company, completing an Advanced Machinist Apprenticeship.
