Course Overview (Benefits)
The course provides an introduction into the management of stress and the promotion of health and wellbeing within the workplace. The benefits include:
- Promotion of positive health and wellbeing within the workplace and at home.
- Increasing the knowledge of staff in how to spot their own and others symptoms of stress and how to positively influence wellbeing.
- The development of a workforce that takes personal and collective responsibility for self and others. Supporting line managers in how to approach conversations about stress and the management of stress.
- Increased resilience in the workforce and therefore a positive influence on rates of sickness and an increase in happiness, compassion and mindfulness across the staff group.
Course Requirements
There are no specific requirements for the course. The course could be targeted at specific staff groups where an organisation suspects or has evidence of an increase in stress or a reduction in resilience. All employees (managers, senior and junior staff) would benefit from the training.

Course Content/Topics Covered
The course includes:
- The assessment of stress (both life event and everyday stress)
- Psychoeducation – what are the triggers and symptoms of stress and why do we experience stress (this is personalised to those on the training and is delivered across group work, conversation with brief didactic learning).
- Personal, work place, organisational responsibilities in managing stress (this can be adapted to include positive wellbeing practice and support programs provided by the host organisation).
- Resilience – what this is and how we can develop or improve our resilience: Emotional coping strategies, Mindfulness, Compassionate Mind, Cognitive Behavioural – includes how to spot negative thinking and how to effectively challenge our thinking.
