Manual Handling for Workplace Assessors
Course Aim:
To enable certain personnel to be competent as workplace assessors. This course meets the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety Executive. Duration:
1 Day Target Group:
Those involved in handling loads who also need to recognise problem areas in lifting and manual handling – assessing the lifting requirements of their own company and carrying out workplace assessments. The course includes the aspects of the Manual Handling course plus an additional half day dealing with these issues.Course Content:
• Identify immediate and cumulative effects of strain and spain injuries
• Show how it is possible to keep body stress to a minimum in a number of given handling activities
• Practical exercises on correct lifting techniques, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Twisting
• Repetitive strain injuries, use of hand mechanics
• Group Lifting
• Adopting a positive attitude towards safe systems of work
• Suggest ways to eliminate or control any handling hazards or unsafe handling practice within their area of control
• Legal Aspects of the directives
• Registering manual handling operations
• Company duties
• Analysis of movement
• Assessment of workplace problem areas
• Alternatives to lifting and carrying
• Commissioning the systems
• Course review and evaluation
Course content also covers documentation and lifting operations in accordance with EEC Directives.Course Benefits:
