Apprenticeships.........
A great idea for business

In an increasingly competitive environment, successful businesses know that, whatever their size, to continue thriving they must develop and maintain a skilled and motivated workforce.
You need staff with the right skills to suit your particular business requirements, and the inspiration to provide a real and relevant contribution.
That’s where the Apprenticeship programme can help. The following information for employers will assist you in better understanding the Apprenticeship programme. Information for Employers
Designed by employers for employers, an Apprenticeship is a work based learning programme, through this programme you can train both your existing staff and any new employees that you are thinking of recruiting. All apprentices follow an ‘Apprenticeship Framework’.
This framework consists of the following:
• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) assess competence and are designed around the skills people use at work
• Key Skills address the personal development of an individual and cover six specific areas:
- Application of numbers
- Communication
- Improving own learning and performance
- Information technology
- Problem solving; and
- Working with others
These key skills are essential to any position within an organisation and a Key Skills certificate proves individual competence in these areas.
• A Technical Certificate is a qualification. It provides general underpinning knowledge of the industry and are broader than NVQs, which can be tailored quite specifically to the job at hand.
There are two types of Apprenticeship available:
• Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 2)
• Advanced Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3)
