Telescopic Handler (CPCS)

Accrediting Body:

The Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) is the main card scheme for the plant industry. It provides an industry standard that all plant operators should be trained to. CPCS cards are proof that a person is competent and qualified to drive particular plant vehicles.

Course Aim:

On completion of training, candidates will be able to operate the telescopic handler used during training safely and correctly in accordance with the manufacturers hand book and accepted good practice. Successful delegates will be entered into the National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS) and the CPCS. 

Duration:

5 Days (35 hours)

Target Group:

This course is designed for delegates with no prior experience of telescopic handlers.

Course Content:

•Identification of the basic construction, purpose, and function of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
•Understanding the manufacturers' handbook
•Pre-use and running checks
•Configuration for site and road travel
•Travelling over different terrain
•Manoeuvre in confined spaces
•Lifting different loads from various points
•Transporting loads
•Hazards 
•Placing the machine in and out-of-service
