Course Aim:

This course aims to provide delegates with the knowledge to carry out hazard identification/risk assessment in company. This course meets the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety Executive.

Duration:

1 Day.

Target Group:

It is aimed at Supervisory/Management personnel with a responsibility for Health & Safety issues.

Course Content:

• Legal Requirements – employer responsibility and definition of risk assessment- importance of risk assessment
• Identification of hazards – definition of hazards associated with an activity/process and breakdown of activities into component parts
• Risk evaluation – assessing severity, judging frequency, rating methods, determining action
• Control measures/Hierarchy of control
• Recording and reviewing findings- make recommendations

A British Safety Council Awards Level 2 Certificate can be gained by completing an externally verified work place risk assessment. The Level 2 certificate is a stand-alone qualification intended for those with responsibility for conducting risk assessments in the workplace,it also provides a useful foundation to the BSC Awards Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.

If you wish to gain the BSC certificate, you must do the following:

• Apply to British Safety Council awards upon completion of the course
• Undertake an externally verified assessment
• Receive nationally recognised certificate on successful completion of the assessment
