Career Hints and Tips with Alliance Learning

Have you just received your GCSE results and don’t know what route to take? Or are you looking to kick start your career?

Follow our career hints and tips….

Whatever your exam results or personal situation don’t panic, but think positive. There are many options open to you and remember this could be the start of a successful career.

Before you do anything, talk to your parents, teachers, Connexions Personal Advisors, other family and friends. Think about what you really like doing in and out of studying. Think about what would be your dream job, and do some research into possible career and education options.

Maureen Culshaw, Head of Apprentice Recruitment here at Alliance Learning explains why young people should go on to further education:

“Young people who stay on in education or work-based training will have better skills, more opportunities throughout their life and more chance of fulfilling their potential.

“Many young people want to go straight into employment so that they can start earning money, but this is not always the best choice in the long run. With an Apprenticeship young people can do both; earn a wage and gain fantastic qualifications.”

If you are considering getting a job, you should look for a job that offers training, an Apprenticeship is a great way to be working in an area that interests you whilst working towards nationally recognised qualifications and Apprenticeships are available in many different areas.

Think! You are much more likely to be successful if you have a level 3 qualification (A levels, NVQs, Apprenticeships or similar). The majority of jobs are looking for this level. A job with training means you are more likely to earn better money in the long run.
